A pit of passion.

August 22, 2010

I just heard through the grapevine (aka Twitter) that Passion Pit is heading to my alum, UNC Chapel Hill, for homecoming this year.  That’s really exciting.  I really love the sound Passion Pit embraces as Synthpop re-emerges on the scene to receptive ears.

The band has been around since 07/08 but really became a force to be reckoned with in 2009 with the release of their album “Manners.”  They have since been on the rise.  Check out my favorite cut by them, a song called “The Seaweed Song.”

For those who are hesistant (and I know there are some out there), the band can be praised for their continuing work with other artists across all genres.  They have done remixes and appeared on tracks with Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, OK Go, Yeah Yeah Yeahs & rap duo Chiddy Bang (who’s collab is included below).

As Homecoming concerts at UNC have become a point of contention in the past, I just ask that music fans embrace and trust what is presented to them.  There is an audience for these artists and if it is not your cup of tea, you have a whole year of potential programming to look forward to.  Complaining hasn’t changed anything yet.
